This course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills about current legislation and their basic duty of care for locating underground services, prior to the commencement of any excavation works. The identify, locate and protect underground services course is an integral piece of training for many civil construction workers.

This course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills about current legislation and their basic duty of care for locating underground services, prior to the commencement of any excavation works. The identify, locate and protect underground services course is an integral piece of training for many civil construction workers.

Dial Before You Dig Plans will be used and the trainer will provide a demonstration using a locating device such as a cable avoidance tool to search for known or potential services or utilities inclusive of Telstra, Electrical, Optic Fibre etc. which may exist under the surface of the location the training is delivered.

Management of risks arising from presence of above-ground, overhead, and underground services in vicinity of workplaces and in particular the use of safe working procedures (SWMS).

Procedures, controls and emergency response requirements for those hazards present at the site, determined through risk assessment, are to be reinforced throughout the training sessions.

Dial Before You Dig Plans will be available for the training venue / client site that this training is delivered at.  Please note, if this course is delivered on client premises, Dial Before You Dig plans will be obtained by Train Me RTO before course commencement.

Knowledge of use of underground services device

Statement of Attainment

On successful completion, participants will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for RIICCM202E ‐ Identify, Locate & Protect Underground Services. Please note: if your course took place on Friday or over the weekend your Statement of Attainment will not be sent until the following Monday.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All participants must have a USI (Unique Student Identifier) number to enrol in this course. If you do not have a USI, please visit the USI Website and create one.

LANGUAGE AND LITERACY REQUIREMENTS

This course will be taught in English and will require a sound understanding of English literacy. If you believe you may encounter challenges with English literacy, please contact us on 02 9733 3600 and we will assess whether you have the capabilities required to undertake this course.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

All participants will be required to bring a Government Issued Photo ID (Drivers licence, Passport or Photo Card).

Please wear enclosed shoes and appropriate clothing including long pants.

A High-Visibility Vest is required as the trainer will take students out on field for demonstrations.

Please be advised that lunch is not provided, please bring your own lunch or there is a small tuck shop a 5 minute walk from our venue.
