A private course would require minimum 5 students and access to relevant machinery.
This course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to conduct skid steer loader operations safely within the civil construction and mining industries. It includes planning and preparing; conducting machine pre-operational checks; operating skid steer loaders; lifting, carrying and placing materials; selecting, removing and fitting attachments; relocate skid steer loaders; carrying out operator maintenance and cleaning up.
Course Duration:
1 Day for experienced participants
2 Days beginner participants
Communicate and work safely with others
Job planning and preparation
Identify hazards associated with skid steer operations and implement hazard controls
Conduct pre-start up operational checks
Operate the skid steer, including:
o Stripping / spreading topsoil and materials
o Backfilling
o Lifting, loading vehicles
o Excavations
o Mixing materials
o The removal and fitting of attachments
o Shutting down and securing the skid steer
o Relocate the machine
o Carry out operator maintenance, and
o Job / worksite clean up
Assessment is a combination of written questions/answers and practical demonstrations.
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment for RIIMPO318F – Conduct Civil Construction Skid Steer Loader Operations. Please note: if your course took place on Friday or over the weekend your Statement of Attainment will not be sent until the following Monday.

All participants must have a USI (Unique Student Identifier) number to enrol in this course. If you do not have a USI, please visit the USI Website and create one.
This course will be taught in English and will require a sound understanding of English literacy. If you believe you may encounter challenges with English literacy, please contact us on 02 9733 3600 and we will assess whether you have the capabilities required to undertake this course.
Course participants must be over the age of 18.

Please come dressed in appropriate clothing, this includes: steel cap safety boots, a hard hat, safety glasses, long pants and high visibility shirt/vest. You will also need wet weather gear if required.
Please bring your Government Issue Photo ID.
Please be advised that lunch is not provided, please bring your own lunch or there is a small tuck shop a 5 minute walk from our venue.
